I’m Emily.  I’m a junior at AU, studying international relations and religion.  You may remember me from last year when I blogged about my internship at the Solidarity Center.  Times have changed since then.  I spent last summer on an Alternative Break trip to Dharamsala, India- home of His Holiness the Dalai Lama  (whose accent sounded fine to me- jokes).

Anyhow, a huge component of the Altbreaks program is post-trip activism.  I was inspired to find an internship related to Tibet for the year.  In August, I began interning at Machik, an organization that does community development on the Tibetan plateau.  I LOVE my internship and I am excited to share my insights with you this semester.  I’ll post about cool stuff I’m doing and learning, as well as ways for you to get involved in Tibetan activism (which I hope you do!).  Please post lots of comments and questions- I look forward to hearing from you!
