Befriend Your Fellow Interns

I intern on Tuesdays and Fridays this semester. On Tuesdays, it is just me in the office but on Fridays, I work alongside another intern. There is a world of difference between the two days; it really does make all the difference to be working next to a friend in the office.

It’s the little things, really. It’s taking turns to complete everyday tasks and collaborating or coordinating on a big project. It’s exploring new areas near the office during our lunch break and trying out new restaurants and foods. It’s having someone to bounce ideas off of as tasks and projects are being completed. It might sound silly, but when I am the lone intern in office on Tuesdays, I miss the company I am lucky to have on Fridays.

It might not always be possible to become friends with your coworkers, for whatever reason. But befriending them definitely makes a world of difference for the office environment, as well as for your own well-being. If nothing else, it’s one more thing to look forward to when I head into my internship on Fridays!
